South Africa to host 14th International Festival of Language and Culture

The 14th International Festival of Language and Culture, South Africa, IFLCSA, will be held this April twenty first, at the Nelson Mandela Theatre in Johannesburg. The Festival is the largest and most prominent global project for promoting world languages and cultures. This year 16 countries including Azerbaijan, Brazil, Egypt, Germany, Bosnia, India, Kazakhstan, Madagascar, Malawi, Phillipines, Senegal. Tanzania, Ukraine, USA, Zambia and South Africa will participate. Ilhami Dermitas is the co-ordinator of the festival and he joins us now to tell us more.
The school administration believes that the action is taken to appease Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who believes that the school promotes and teaches his arch-rival and cleric Fetullah Gulen’s teachings. “We have gone through the school curriculum during our time and have not found them imparting any extremism ideology or anything that goes against the interests of Pakistan,” said one of the graduates.

They were happy when Greek police caught them. “They treated us very well,” Hakan says. “Zehra told us she felt safer spending [several nights] in jail than [she did] in Turkey. She said: ‘The Greek police are keeping us safe from the Turks.'”
Police and inspectors raid Gülen-inspired schools in Çanakkale
In yet another government-orchestrated operation targeting the faith-based Gülen movement, popularly known as the Hizmet movement, police officers and inspectors from several ministries and institutions conducted raids at schools established by volunteers of the movement early on Wednesday in the northwestern city of Çanakkale.

Afghan education minister recommends Turkish schools in each province
Congratulating the Turkish teachers working at the schools in Afghanistan, Minister Wardak said that they were “highly respected.” He went on to praise the teachers who “leave behind their families and their cherished hometowns, leaving wonderful cities like İstanbul and Ankara and all that is near and dear to them to serve the Afghan nation and Afghan children.”
